FreeSWITCH Project Update
Hello all! I felt it might be good to give the community a quick update on what's going on with the project...
ClueCon MMX was a huge success! We had a great time seeing everyone and we were privileged to have many great speakers and sponsors make some great announcements. Anthony Minessale took the wraps off of the magic sofia recover feature that has actually been lurking in the FreeSWITCH source tree since January of this year. We also had Mathieu Rene announced RTMP, a new Flash-based softphone application for FreeSWITCH.
Now that the FreeSWITCH book has been published we are discussing what to do next on the documentation front. Packt has expressed interest in publising a followup book, most likely a FreeSWITCH cookbook. We are currently collecting ideas for recipes from the community. If you have an idea for a recipe then please let us know.
Another effort we are engaging in is to keep some of the ClueCon momentum going now that we are done this year. We are looking at a few things, including having our ClueCon sponsors give presentations during the weekly FreeSWITCH conference call. We hope to have goodies to give away and special guest speakers at least once a month. We've scheduled our first such guest speaker for next Wednesday August 25: Philip R Zimmermann, inventor of PGP and co-developer of the ZRTP protocol.
At this time I would like to extend a personal thanks to everyone in the FreeSWITCH community. I've learned a lot from you over the past four years and it has been a great experience. You've supported the project, you've bought the book, you've come to ClueCon, you've submitted bug reports and patches, you've hung out in IRC to help the newbies, and you've answered thousands of questions on the mailing lists. In case I haven't said it loudly enough: THANK YOU. We really appreciate all you've done for the project. Keep up the great work!
